Slabbing sits between a full patio build and a simple hard standing. Where the base is already sound the price is mostly labour and slabs, which is why we always look at what is under the old surface first.

Slabbing: your questions answered
How much does slabbing cost per square metre?
Relaying onto a sound base runs £60 to £95 per square metre. A new area with a full digout and sub-base is usually £110 to £180 per square metre.
Can slabs be laid on sand?
Not for anything you will walk on regularly. We use a full mortar bed so the slabs cannot rock, sink or lift at the corners.
Why are my existing slabs wobbling?
Almost always a spot bedded slab with voids underneath, or a base that was never compacted. Both are fixed properly by lifting and relaying on a full bed.
What size base does a shed need?
We usually build the pad around 50mm bigger than the shed on each side so rainwater drips clear of the timber rather than onto it.
How soon can I use a new slabbed area?
Light foot traffic the next day, and full use once the joints have cured, which normally means about 48 hours.
